The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is an international program founded by H. R. H. Prince Phillip in 1956.  The award came to Canada in 1963 and was introduced to Alberta in 1970.  In the 40 years we have been active in Alberta we have assisted thousands of youth achieve an Award level.  We have a current registration of close to 5,000 young people between the ages of 14 & 25.

The Award concept is one of individual challenge.  It presents to young people a balanced, non-competitive program of voluntary activities, which encourages personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility to themselves and service to the community.  There are three levels of Awards, Bronze (for those over 14), Silver (for those over 15) and Gold (for those over 16).  At each Award Level achievers are required to participate in four mandatory activities; community service, physical recreation, skill development and undertake an expedition or exploration.  Upon proper recording and verification of activities we present Certificates and Pins to honor individual achievements.
