Guiding and Volunteers
Since the beginning Guiding and volunteers go hand in hand. Women have given their time, friendship, wisdom, and talents to make the Guiding organization more efficient and successful. It is not surprising that many of our volunteers were Girl Guides themselves who want to give back to the organization what they themselves experienced. But indeed, no experience is necessary. To try to determine the demographics of volunteers in Guiding is practically impossible. They are all of different ages, background, religion and culture. They do, however have one thing in common; they want to keep the Guiding spirit alive. Volunteering in the organization is a great experience for women. They are given the opportunity to take leadership roles, make decisions that will impact the organization, train in new areas, and develop their own hidden talents. Girl Guides of Canada - Guides du Canada, Calgary Area is always looking for volunteers interested in the development of girls and young women in the community. Volunteers have an array of options to choose from. Whether it means being involved directly with the girls or contributing to administration or committees. Girl Guide volunteers are never bored.
